Professor Jinyan Li became Interim Dean of Osgoode Hall Law School on July 1, 2009. She is also currently Chair of the Law School's Upper-Year Curriculum Reform Working Group and has previously served as Chair of the Faculty Recruitment Committee and the Equality Committee. Professor Li joined Osgoode in 1999, having previously taught for eight years on the Faculty of Law at the University of Western Ontario. She was also a Visiting Scholar at Harvard Law School, a Greenwoods and Freehills Visiting Professor of International Taxation at the University of Sydney, Australia, and a Visiting Professor at Kenneth Wang Law School, Suzhou University, China. She has served as a legal consultant to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Auditor General of Canada, the Department of Justice of Canada, as well as several leading law firms. She was also a member of an advisory committee for the Minister of National Revenue on the issue of e-commerce taxation. In 2004, she won the teaching excellence award at Osgoode. In 1999, she received the Douglas J. Sherbaniuk Distinguished Writing Award. Professor Li, who became a full professor in 2006, has been awarded numerous research grants, including two from the Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Professor Li’s research interests include taxation law and policy, social security law, pension law, and Chinese law.
