Ms Austin was a partner in the Pension & Employee Benefits Group in the Toronto office of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. Her practice involved all aspects of the taxation, design, implementation, administration and termination of pension, other employee benefit plans, profit sharing, stock option and executive compensation arrangements. Ms Austin's practice included: providing opinions on all aspects of pension and benefits law including surplus ownership and utilization, mergers, plan governance, funding issues and tax issues; advising on the effect of corporate reorganizations on pension and benefit plans; advising on pension class actions; and negotiating and drafting related agreements and plan documents. Ms. Austin has written journal articles on a variety of topics in the areas of tax, pensions and employee benefits. She is the immediate Past Chair of the Pension and Benefits Section of the Canadian Bar Association.
