Geoff R. Hall
BA (McGill, Gold Medallist in Economics), MA in Economics (Toronto), LLB (Toronto, Silver Medallist), LLM (Harvard), is a litigation partner at McCarthy Tétrault LLP in Toronto. He clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada in 1991-92 and was called to the Ontario bar in 1993. He has appeared as counsel in all levels of courts in Ontario, the courts of several other provinces, the Federal Court, and the Supreme Court of Canada. Additionally, he has appeared as counsel in both domestic and international arbitrations. His practice includes corporate/commercial litigation, bankruptcy/restructuring matters, constitutional and administrative law matters, as well as some employment litigation. In the course of his practice, Mr. Hall is regularly called upon to litigate contract issues. In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Hall writes, teaches and speaks on a variety of legal topics. His book Canadian Contractual Interpretation Law was published in August 2007 by LexisNexis Canada. He has also published widely in legal journals. He has been a Sessional Lecturer in Trial Advocacy at Queen’s University, Faculty of Law since 2002.
