Lydia Stewart Ferreira

Lydia Stewart Ferreira is a Tribunal member of the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board and a previous member of the Health Systems Appeal and Review Board and the University of Toronto Research Ethics Board. She is currently working with the CAW and Research Institute for Aging on an Access to Justice Initiative. She is a PhD candidate in Health Care Insurance under the supervision of Professor Joan Gilmour. She has a Nathanson Fellow and has an Osgoode York Scholarship, a Harley D. Hallett Graduate Scholarship and a Hon. Willard Z. Estey Graduate Fellowship. She has a BSc (Waterloo), MPH (Boston), JD (Queens), LLM (Osgoode), is called to the Ontario Bar and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association. She has taught Public Health Law at Windsor Faculty of Law and Elder Law at Queens Faculty of Law. She has worked for the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care as a Senior Policy Advisor, Clerked for Justice Hill at Superior Court and has undertaken work for the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ministry of the Attorney General, and the Law Foundation of Ontario. Her work in health law and health policy has included the Ontario West Nile Virus, Walkerton, Public Health Renewal following SARS, Tobacco Control, HIV/AIDS, emergency planning, consent and capacity, health information privacy, and health promotion. She is the recipient of the WHO/PAHO Professional Fellowship.
