Lyle Kanee is a part-time vice-chair of both the Alberta and Ontario Labour Relations Boards and an arbitrator/mediator. Prior to beginning his career as a neutral in 2008, Mr. Kanee practiced law at the union-side firm of Sack Goldblatt Mitchell in Toronto and was the managing partner of the Edmonton law firm of Chivers Kanee Carpenter. Mr. Kanee has served as a sessional instructor in labour law and labour arbitration at the University of Alberta, and has presented papers on labour issues at numerous conferences and workshops.

In 1999, Mr. Kanee was awarded the Suzanne Mah Award by the Alberta Human Rights Commission for his role in prioritizing the principles and ideals of human rights in the practice of law.
