Pooja Samtani
Hons BSc (Toronto), LLB (Western), MTax (Waterloo), of the Bar of Ontario
Ms. Samtani is an associate with the firm of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP. She specializes in advising on tax litigation and routinely represents clients in disputes before the Canadian tax authority. She has appeared as co-counsel in significant cases before the Tax Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal, and has assisted on matters before the Supreme Court of Canada. In addition to tax dispute resolution, her practice also includes advising on general corporate tax matters.
Ms. Samtani received her Hons. B.Sc. from the University of Toronto and LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario. She completed her articles with the firm in 2005-2006, during which time she also obtained her Master of Taxation degree. She returned to the firm as an associate in 2006 following her call to the Ontario Bar.
Ms. Samtani is an adjunct professor at Osgoode Hall Law School. She is an active member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and is currently serving on the Steering Committee of the Toronto chapter of the Young Practitioners Group. She has authored articles on a wide variety of topics regarding federal income tax matters and is a contributing editor of Canadian Tax Focus, a newsletter published by the Canadian Tax Foundation.
