How To Fund Law School

It is every student’s responsibility to thoroughly review the various programs/options available for funding three years at Osgoode Hall Law School. We strongly recommend that students seriously consider all of the options in the event that assistance from family, spouse and work prove inadequate. We fully expect all students to pursue these personal sources in the first place.

Below is the complete listing of the various external and internal programs/options available to you while at Osgoode:

External Programs (Osgoode facilitates both external funding programs):

  • Student Government Assistance (required for bursary application);
  • Student Line of Credit (required for bursary application).

Osgoode Financial Programs (Annually, upwards of $3 Million in all funding is dispersed to Osgoode students):

  • Entrance Year Scholarship Program (considered automatically when you complete a Financial Statement);

  • Upper Year Scholarship Program (considered automatically based on merit and/or financial need);

  • Medals and Prizes Program (recognition for performance);

  • Early Bursary Notification Program (early indication of funding);
  • Bursary Program (includes tuition reinvestment funding, Osgoode designated bursaries, social justice funding, internships);
  • Emergency Funding (in dire situations only, funds may be lent to students via promissory notes);
  • Exit Funding (some funding is directed to students participating in graduate studies (The Honourable F.H. Barlow Scholarship) and some to students with high debt working in a low paying social justice positions (Law Foundation of Ontario, LFO, Debt Repayment Assistance Program, D-RAP)).

It is highly recommended that you read carefully the details on all of the above programs.
