The 2017 Dean for a Day contest is underway! It’s open to all Osgoode students. Submissions are due by March 3. The winner will rule Osgoode on March 10.

2017 Dean for a Day Newsroom
This year’s Dean for a Day contest, which runs from Feb. 6 to March 3, coincides with the official publication in late February of the Law School’s 2017-2020 Strategic Plan called Access Osgoode.
The Access Osgoode Plan commits the Law School to advancing five specific themes and goals: Accessibility; Community Engagement; Experiential Education; Reconciliation; and Research Intensification.
With that in mind, contest participants are asked to answer this question: Which ONE of the five goals mentioned above should be Osgoode’s top priority over the next three years and why?
There are multiple ways to participate in the contest:
– Tweeting your response using hashtag #ozd4d;
– Commenting on the Dean for a Day post on the Osgoode Facebook page;
– Sharing a photo or video on Instagram using hashtag #ozd4d;
– Sending an e-mail note (max. 100 words) to vcorner@osgoode.yorku.ca;
– Delivering a hard copy note (max. 100 words) to Virginia Corner in Room 1016;
– Creating a YouTube video and sending the link to vcorner@osgoode.yorku.ca.

The contest is open to all Osgoode students. Submissions must be received no later than noon on Friday, March 3. Submissions will be reviewed by the contest judges -Professor Benjamin Berger, Associate Dean (Students), and Mya Rimon, Assistant Dean (Students) — who will be looking for a clearly articulated rationale for advancing one particular priority over the next three years.

The winner will be announced on Monday , March 6, and will trade places with Dean Lorne Sossin as Dean for a Day on Friday, March 10. Sossin, in turn, will attend that student’s classes and do the various things that Osgoode students do!

The person with the winning Dean for a Day submission will be able to:
– Make themselves comfortable in the Dean’s Office;
– Chair meetings of the Law School’s senior administration;
– Enjoy an exclusive catered lunch with three friends in the Dean’s private boardroom;
– Star in a Dean for a Day video that will be posted to Osgoode’s YouTube channel;
– Direct a $500 grant to one of several Law School initiatives, including the Law School’s emergency bursary program, Access to Law & Learning (ALL) free LSAT course, or a student club/organization of choice.
– Go to the movies using a Cineplex Great Escape Movie Package pass.
