Eligible members of the bar are invited to become public interest partners with Osgoode Hall Law School. The new Osgoode Public Interest Requirement for law students (40 hours of uncompensated, public interest work) is an excellent opportunity for members of the bar to enhance their capacity, participate in practical legal education, serve as role models and introduce law students to the challenges that arise in practice and in real situations.
What files or projects would qualify?
- Legal aid matters
- Test case litigation
- Pro Bono services
- Access to justice, public legal education or policy work
What are the time requirements?
Placements can be tailor-made. They need not occupy 40 hours, but may be either for shorter or longer periods. One or more students may be placed with the firm. Osgoode will work with you to screen potential candidates to ensure the best possible fit.
Is there any cost?
No. Students are required to work on an uncompensated basis. Where space is an issue and where the project needs are appropriate, students may provide services off-site.
How do I become a Public Interest Partner?
Simply contact the Osgoode Public Interest Requirement Office. We will match your area of need with student interest and availability.
