Osgoode has a special program in place with a local branch of RBC Royal Bank (Highway 400 and 7) to offer student loan services specifically tailored to our students. The program offers students a full range of banking services, including easier access to a student line of credit of up to $80,000, favourable interest rates, and one-on-one consultation with professional banking representatives.
For students with documented financial need, Osgoode's Bursary Program provides bursaries to assist with the interest payments on the student line of credit, creating "interest-free" loans throughout your time at Osgoode.
While students may apply to other financial institutions for a line of credit, the advantages of the RBC Royal Bank line of credit program include:
- RBC Royal Bank provides up to $80,000 in total loans, depending on your circumstances. (The amount a student can receive as a student line of credit from any financial institution is normally reduced by the amount of that individual's existing debt, including OSAP.)
- RBC Royal Bank will consider you a student during your articling year and require interest only payments during that time. Articling students may be able to negotiate, depending on your circumstances, up to a maximum of $20,000 to the line of credit for a 4th year.
- RBC Royal Bank provides professional financial counseling services throughout your three years at law school. For added convenience, the financial representatives will be available on site at Osgoode for the first week of the school year, and at other specified times during the course of the year, to provide advice for students with financial concerns.
- RBC Royal Bank recently lowered their interest rate for the professional student line of credit for Osgoode students to prime plus 0.5%.

Please Note: It is each student's responsibility at the beginning of each academic year to contact the representative of RBC Royal Bank (or the financial institution where you have a student line of credit) to secure funding for the next academic year, including the year of articling. Make sure you provide proof of your academic registration.
