Ontario Bursary for Students with Disabilities

Up to $2,000 is available from the Ontario Government for students with disabilities who require education-related services or equipment such as tutors, note-takers, interpreters, braillers or technical aids directly related to their disability (certain conditions apply). Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment for Persons with Permanent Disabilities

Up to $8,000 each year is available from the Ontario Government in non-repayable assistance for students with disabilities who incur disability-related educational costs such as tutors, note-takers, interpreters, braillers, or technical aids (certain conditions apply).

To apply, make an appointment with a disability counselor in York’s Office for Persons with Disabilities within 30 days of picking up your OSAP. The disability counselor will help you complete the “Application for Students with Disabilities and Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment for Persons with Permanent Disabilities.” The application and any relevant document must be submitted to York Student Financial Services for processing no later than 90 days before the end of the study period.  For complete information, click here. 

 

Canadian Foundation for Physically Disabled Persons Bursaries

Established by the Canadian Foundation for Physically Disabled, three $500 bursaries are available annually to deserving York University students with a physical disability. The successful applicant must demonstrate financial need. The funds supporting this award were matched by the Ontario Government and accordingly are available only to Ontario residents as defined by the OSOTF guidelines.
