Students who are currently studying at another common law school may apply to transfer to the second year of the JD program at Osgoode Hall Law School. Transfer applicants must have completed a common law program that the Admissions Committee judges to be the substantial equivalent of Osgoode’s first-year program:
Canadian Criminal Law (Fall Term)
Contract Law (Fall Term)
Tort Law (Fall Term)
Property Law (Winter Term)
State and Citizen (Full Year) note: this course is Canadian Constitutional Law
Legal Process (Full Year) note: this course is Civil Procedure and LRW
Ethical Lawyering (Full Year)
Transfer applicants will, upon successful completion of all pertinent requirements, including completion of any unmet required first year courses, receive the JD degree from Osgoode Hall Law School.
Only students who have obtained a minimum “B” average in their previous law study are considered for admission as Transfer (successful candidates however, typically have at least a B+ average). An indication of class rank or standing should be included in at least one reference, if not included on the transcript. At least one academic reference, from a law professor who can comment on the student’s abilities, must be provided.
