Our approach to reading over 3,000 applications begins with the applicant’s best 2 years cumulative gpa and LSAT score. Applicants are grouped and files are read accordingly.
Once the order for review has been determined, files are read in their entirety. An applicant’s academic performance (includes all studies and programs and LSAT), non-academic experience (includes work, life, volunteer, extra-curricular, interests), and submissions (includes personal statement, considerations cited in personal statement, letters of reference, corroboration) are all carefully considered.
No formula or weighting is applied in reaching a decision.
Best Two Years GPA
The best 2 years GPA is calculated based on courses complete in one calendar year of study. Courses complete in the Fall, Winter and Summer sessions contribute towards a year of study. A minimum of 60 credit hours of study (2 Years) from the home institution is required for calculating the best 2 years.
Grade Conversions
Grades from a North American university are converted to a standard 4.0 system in order to provide a uniform basis for comparing applicants. The conversion of grades is based on a standard table agreed to by the six Ontario law schools and is applied by the Ontario Law School Application Service. The OLSAS Grade conversion table is available here.
Transcripts from outside North America are not converted by OLSAS and are forwarded directly to the law school for evaluation. For degree studies that have been completed overseas, an evaluation of foreign credentials (based on a course-by-course assessment) specifying Canadian degree, grade and credit hour equivalency must be provided with the transcript.
