Upper Year Writing Requirement

Students in the JD program must complete a major research project in order to graduate from Osgoode Hall Law School.

According to the Academic Rules of Osgoode Hall Law School, Rule 3.6, students may satisfy this requirement by writing a research paper in a seminar, designated course or intensive program, supervised independent research paper, research program, or joint program. The paper must be at least 8,000 words (not including footnotes, bibliography, and appendices), and must be worth at least 60% of the final course grade.

Students fulfilling the requirement must submit an online declaration form, which is available on MyOsgoode.
