Academic Director

Professor Poonam Puri

Professor Poonam Puri is Co-Founder and Academic Director of the Osgoode Investor Protection Clinic. As Academic Director, she oversees all IPC activities on a day-to-day basis including file management and student supervision. She is one of Canada’s leading experts in corporate governance, corporate law and securities law. A prolific scholar, she has co-authored/co-edited numerous books, book chapters and scholarly articles in leading journals and has commissioned research reports on a range of topics including investor protection, corporate governance, the role of boards, shareholder activism and engagement, and corporate social responsibility. Professor Puri was recognized as one of the top 25 most influential lawyers in Canada by Canadian Lawyer Magazine in 2017 and 2015. Professor Puri earned an LL.B. degree from the University of Toronto, where she was the silver medalist in her graduating class, and she holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from Harvard Law School.

Associate Director

Brigitte Catellier

Brigitte Catellier is Associate Director of Osgoode’s Investor Protection Clinic and help to oversee IPC activities along with Professor Puri. Brigitte obtained her BCL/LLB degrees from McGill University (National Program) in 1988 and was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 1989. She also obtained the designation of Certified In-House Counsel –Canada (CIC.C). She is a Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute and supports their International Qualifying Program as Subject Matter Expert in Boardroom Dynamics and Risk Management. Brigitte has been a member of the Board of Directors of Governance Professionals of Canada since August 2015.
