Wednesday Research Series with Prof. Kisilowski – Oct 22

Can Left and Right Agree? Returning to Constitutionalism’s Contractarian Roots Amidst the New Ideological ‘Cold War’

Speaker: Prof. Maciej Kisilowski, Central European University

Format: Hybrid

About this session:

Can Left and Right still agree on rules of democratic coexistence in our age of polarization? Drawing on Let’s Agree on Poland (Oxford University Press, 2025)—a bestseller born from a dialogue among 130 leading liberals and conservatives—Prof. Maciej Kisilowski argues that today’s ideological conflicts echo the Cold War. He shows how reviving constitutionalism’s contractarian tradition may offer one of the few viable paths for coexistence between liberalism and the New Right.
