BA (Hons)(Ottawa), MA (Carleton), LLB (Osgoode), of the Bar of Ontario

Prior to attending law school and following an M.A. from the
Norman Paterson School for International Affairs, Ms Heffernan worked in
international development, which included a two year CIDA research fellowship
in the Philippines and India. As a lawyer, she has worked in the areas of
immigration and refugee law, workers’ rights, and human rights. Ms Heffernan
has also taught courses on Community Legal Issues and Housing and Homelessness. More
recently, she has focused on housing and human rights at the Advocacy Centre
for Tenants Ontario, including the right to housing in Canada. Ms Heffernan
currently holds a Community Leadership in Justice Fellowship from the Law
Foundation of Ontario.
