Ernie Schirru has practiced both labour and employment law at Koskie Minsky LLP since his call to the Bar in 2003. Prior to joining the firm, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Labour Studies from Brock University and his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School. In 2014, Mr. Schirru became the head of the KM Labour practice group.
Mr. Schirru represents industrial, public sector, private sector and construction trade unions on a full range of labour relations matters, including the acquisition and maintenance of bargaining rights, unfair labour practices, discipline and discharge, grievances arising under collective agreements, human rights issues, employment standards, health and safety, workplace injuries and collective bargaining. As a member of the KM Employment Group, he also provides clients with advice on a wide variety of individual employment and human resource related issues and litigation.
In 2015, Mr. Schirru accepted an appointment as an adjunct professor at Osgoode Hall Law School where he teaches the upper year JD Collective Bargaining Law Course. He is also the co-editor of and regular contributor to the Koskie Minsky Employment News and Employment Law blog.
