Michael Tweyman is a partner at the firm Modern Family Law LLP, https://modernfamilylaw.ca/, a boutique firm with a focus on family law.  Mr. Tweyman’s practice spans all areas of family law, from property disputes to child protection cases.  In addition, as a panel lawyer with the Office of the Children’s Lawyer, Mr. Tweyman also represents children in family law cases.

Throughout his career, Mr. Tweyman has been involved in a number of cases which involve the intersection between family law and other areas of law, including corporate issues, estates law, and bankruptcy law.  He has appeared successfully before all levels of court in Ontario.

Mr. Tweyman has also been involved with three Charter of Rights and Freedoms cases, one involving children’s naming rights and two separate cases regarding support for adult children.

Mr. Tweyman has presented at a number of continuing legal education programs, including in front of doctors on the intersection of women’s health issues and family law; before Toronto lawyers on the intersection of certain estate issues and family law; and at the Six Minute Family Lawyer in 2018, where he presented on the topic of bankruptcy and family law.

As an adjunct professor at Osgoode, Mr. Tweyman has taught Legal Values: Managing Family Law Cases, an upper year practicum course.  He is also a co-coach of Osgoode’s Walsh Family Law Moot Team, which has won the Walsh Family Law Moot Competition multiple times.

Mr. Tweyman received his LLB (now JD) from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2005.
