Osgoode Alumni Honoured with 2026 Law Society Medals

Osgoode Hall Law School proudly celebrates three distinguished alumni — Kevin Gordon Cleghorn (LLM ’12), Shalene Curtis‑Micallef (LLB ’95), and Paul J. Pape (LLB ’69) — who have been awarded the 2026 Law Society Medal, one of the Law Society of Ontario’s highest honours. The Medal recognises outstanding service to the profession, including leadership in public service, advancement of access to justice, and contributions that uphold the highest ideals of the legal profession.

Together, this year’s recipients exemplify a remarkable range of impact, from transformative work in legal education and public service leadership to advancing the rule of law and improving access to justice across communities.

2026 Osgoode Alumni Honourees

Kevin Gordon Cleghorn (LLM ’12)

Cleghorn is recognized for more than four decades of commitment to expanding access to justice in northwestern Ontario, including his leadership in legal aid service development, legal education, and community service initiatives.

Shalene Curtis‑Micallef (LLB ’95)

Curtis‑Micallef is celebrated for her exceptional leadership in public service, including her tenure as Canada’s Deputy Minister of Justice and Deputy Attorney General, and her longstanding commitment to upholding the rule of law and strengthening access to justice nationwide.

Paul J. Pape (LLB ’69)

Called to the Bar in 1971, Pape is renowned for his exceptional advocacy, particularly in class action, medical malpractice, and negligence appeals. Over more than 50 years, he has earned a reputation for principled, innovative, and unfailingly civil practice, deeply impacting clients and colleagues alike.

These honours are part of the Law Society of Ontario’s 2026 Awards Program, which recognises individuals whose careers exemplify mentorship, dedication, and service to the public interest.
