The Advanced Business Law Workshop I draws together various aspects of corporate and securities law and applies that knowledge to the problems that confront business lawyers. Designed and taught by practising corporate lawyers, this workshop prepares students for work in public and private debt and equity markets.
What You Will Do
Through a highly interactive and collaborative workshop that utilizes a series of exercises, you will delve into the practical aspects of structuring, negotiating, and executing corporate finance transactions. The workshop meets weekly for a three-hour session at the offices of Davies in downtown Toronto.

- debt offerings in the capital markets — public offerings and private placements of bonds, debentures, medium term notes and commercial paper

- public-private partnerships (P3s)
- insolvency and restructuring
- how to run a deal — due diligence to closing
- the roles that lawyers play in negotiating and executing deals
- insights into the broader theoretical and ethical considerations that confront a business lawyer
