The Osgoode Catalyst Fellowships are designed to bring to Osgoode emerging scholars who have a demonstrated interest in a career in law teaching and to support and mentor scholars who will enhance the diversity of the profession. The Osgoode Catalyst Fellowship program may serve as a bridge to a legal academic career for one or more scholars each academic year.
As an expression of Osgoode’s commitment to diversity in the legal academy, the fellowships are aimed at equity candidates. Accordingly, we welcome applications from women, racialized persons, Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, and LGBTQ persons. As such, candidates should self-identify in their cover letters and elaborate on the ways in which their candidacy has the potential to enhance diversity in the legal academy.
Fellows will be given the opportunity to present a workshop with the aim of preparing a major article for publication, to pursue an active affiliation with one of our research centres, and to teach a course at the Law School.
The Osgoode Catalyst Fellow is expected to be in residence at the Law School for a full academic year. In exceptional circumstances, fellowships may also be awarded for a semester. Fellows will receive approximately $50,000 in funding for a full academic year.
The Catalyst is intended as a post-graduate fellowship. Candidates should not be degree candidates during the term of the fellowship. Except in exceptional circumstances, candidates are expected to have completed a doctorate by the start of the fellowship. Please indicate the projected date of completion for any in-progress degrees.
Applications are now closed. We will not be recruiting for this position for the 2023-24 Academic Year. Please check back in in the Winter 2023 term for further updates.
