Osgoode Faculty & Students (including Professional LLM)
York University Libraries’ Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service is available to all Osgoode faculty and students. We can obtain for you from other libraries any materials required by you that are not held by any of the libraries at York University and not available electronically. This service is provided free to all Osgoode faculty and students.
To make an interlibrary loan request, please use RACER, York University’s online interlibrary loan service. All ILL requests for Osgoode faculty and students will be made available for pickup at the Osgoode Library’s circulation desk. You will be notified when your request has been received.
York University Faculty & Students
Students and faculty of York University (not registered at Osgoode Hall Law School) may request interlibrary loans using the RACER service of York University Libraries. There may be a charge for this service.
Law Firms and Lawyers
The Osgoode Library is pleased to be able to offer direct interlibrary loan (ILL) and document delivery services to Canadian law firms and lawyers. External libraries (other than Canadian law firm libraries and lawyers) are asked please to place their requests directly with York University Libraries. Please see instructions below.
Osgoode Hall Law School Library – Circulation Desk

Requests by law firms or lawyers for books or documents may be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please provide as much information as possible (author, title; citation for articles, cases or statutes; edition, publisher and year for books), as well your email address and phone number. Volumes of bound periodicals, law reports and statutes, and materials from the Library’s Core Collection are not available for loan, but copies of individual documents can be made.
Document requests will be scanned and emailed whenever possible. Book requests can be picked up at the Library’s Circulation Desk. Alternative arrangements can be made with the Library staff if necessary, in which case please telephone or email.
Please note that some copyright or licensing restrictions may apply.
- Most requests will be filled within 24 hours (1 business day).
- RUSH requests will be fulfilled in four (4) hours.
- Requests for difficult or obscure items may take longer to fill.
- Patrons will be notified by email when their book requests are ready to be picked up, and document deliveries will be emailed directly.
- We are currently waiving charges while our fee structure is under review.
- Borrowers are responsible for courier arrangements and charges.
- Document requests will be scanned and emailed.
External Libraries (other than Law Firms)

Members of the Public
The Osgoode Hall Law School Library does not provide interlibrary loan service to members of the public. We encourage these patrons to come to the Law Library in person or to consult the interlibrary loan service at their local public library.
