The DABUS Story: Can AI be an Inventor?
Prof. Ryan Abbott is leading the litigation on whether DABUS, a creativity AI-device, can be designated as an inventor under IP law. Courts in Australia, European Union, United Kingdom and United States share a similar view—legally, humans and not AI-devices are inventors. Prof. Abbott challenges this view. Recently, he presented his testimony before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Intellectual Property. Panelists will debate on whether they support or disagree with Prof. Abbott’s widely discussed view.
