Osgoode third-year JD student Avesta Alani is one of nine Canadian law students to receive scholarships this year offered by the Legal Leaders for Diversity Trust Fund.

“These scholarships are made possible thanks to the generosity of many general counsels and law firm managing partners across Canada who all share the common goal of an increasingly inclusive Canadian legal community,” Daniel Desjardins, Chairman of the Legal Leaders for Diversity Trust Fund, wrote in a letter to Alani. “First and foremost, we owe our success in achieving our mission to individuals such as yourself who are pursuing their studies and actively participating in the betterment of their communities.”

More than 60 Canadian law students applied this year for one of the Fund’s scholarships, Desjardins said. Alani’s one-time scholarship is for $3,000.
