The application process for the Research LLM and PhD is entirely online.
Step 1: Complete Online Application Form
The application form can be accessed through the York University Graduate Admissions page. Please read the page carefully before clicking on the Apply Now button.
Step 2: Pay Application Fee
There is a $130 application fee that must be paid online.
Step 3: Receive Application Acknowledgement
Within approximately three business days, York University will process the first part of your application and send you an email with login information for the MyFile portal.
Step 4: Upload Your Documents
Access your Admissions MyFile and upload all required documents. Uploading to MyFile is the only way to submit your documents; please do not send materials to the Graduate Program in Law office.
Step 5: Access Application Decisions Via MyFile
Admissions decisions will be issued through the MyFile portal. Please check regularly for the status of your application. (See below for information about when decisions are made.)
Application Timeline
The admission process opens in mid-October for both domestic and international applications to the Research LLM and PhD. We review complete application files on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to submit all your application documents as soon as possible.
Deadline
Applicants must register on the MyFile portal by February 15, 2024 for their application to be considered for the Fall 2024 intake.
Review and decision-making on an application can begin only when all required documents have been uploaded to MyFile. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Decisions
Decisions are made on a rolling basis, with assessments starting as soon as each file is complete. Most decisions will be announced in early Spring 2024. Please note that we are only able to accept a limited number of international students each year.
