The Canadian Client Consultation Competition (“CCCC”) simulates a law office consultation in which law students from law schools across Canada, acting as lawyers, are presented with a client matter. They conduct an interview with a person playing the role of the client. The students are expected to elicit the relevant information from the client, explain the relevant laws, present the possible options and assist the client with selecting a solution. Following the interview, there is a post-consultation period for the students to analyze the interview and discuss the work that needs to be undertaken.
A team consists of two law school students attending the same approved Canadian LSAC-member law. The top-ranking Canadian law school at the Canadian Competition will advance to the annual Louis M. Brown and Forrest S. Mosten International Client Consultation Competition, the international legal moot competition in which law students from more than 25 countries compete. What you need to know
- 1L’s may participate
- The competition is hosted by different Canadian universities on a rotating schedule
- The top-ranking law school advances to the Louis M. Brown and Forrest S. Mosten International Client Consultation Competition
Teams
- Teams are comprised of two teams of two students, per team
- It is recommended that students participate in the internal Dentons Negotiation Cup in the Fall to be considered for CCCC
Credits/Courses
- Team members do NOT receive credit
- Team members are NOT required to enroll in the Appellate Advocacy Workshop
