Service Details

Mobile phones and plans may be purchased upon approval for staff members through the Rogers Wireless corporate plan.

Faculty

Faculty members can order cell phones and plans paid through PER accounts directly from UIT.  See the UIT Cell Phones page for information on pricing and to request a device and plan.

Staff

Requesting a new Device or Plan

Staff members must have approval from their department head to request a mobile phone.  To request a phone, the department head must directly submit a request:

  1. The department head should review the plan pricing on the UIT Cell Phones page
  2. Submit a written request for a new device of plan directly to help@osgoode.yorku.ca with the following information:
    1. Staff member’s name
    2. Staff member’s position title
    3. Staff member’s current mobile phone number (if the staff member already has a mobile plan)
      1. What is being requested: Device Upgrade; Device Replacement; New New Plan and Device

Reporting a Lost or Stolen Device

Lost or stolen phones must be replaced at the full hardware cost, unless the contract is currently eligible for an upgrade.  Osgoode ITS might be able to provide a loaner phone subject to availability.  If a loaner device is available, it takes a minimum of two business days to provision the temporary device.

Follow these steps if your device is lost or stolen:

  1. Call Rogers wireless directly to report the theft or loss of the device: 1-877-274-3375
  2. Send an e-mail to your department head to report the theft or loss of the device
  3. Your department head should send an e-mail directly to help@osgoode.yorku.ca to report the loss of the device

Damaged Devices

If you are having an issue with your device, they are covered under warranty for one year for defects.  Physical damage is not covered under warranty.  Replacements for damaged phones must be paid at the full hardware cost, unless the contract is currently eligible for an upgrade.  Follow these steps if you are having issues with your device.

Software Issues

If you are having issues with an app not functioning as expected, send an e-mail to help@osgoode.yorku.ca for assistance.

Hardware Issues

If you are having issues with hardware, e.g. speakers, microphones, camera, book an appointment with the Apple Genius Bar to evaluate the issue.  If the phone cannot be repaired under warranty, Apple will provide a quote for repairing the phone.  Provide the quote to your department head to receive approval to go ahead with a repair.
