File Access Service
Service Details
File Access Service (FAS) Shared Volumes are available for staff departments and research centres to store files. FAS Shared Volumes can be setup with permissions to ensure data security and reliability.
While existing departmental FAS Shared Volumes are in use, it is recommended to use SharePoint and OneDrive to store data. More details can be found on our SharePoint and OneDrive page.
- FAS Shared Volumes are configured with Access Control Lists (ACL) to restrict access to management approved individuals
- Deleted files can be restored for up to 30 days
Storing Data
- All data must be stored on a FAS Shared Volume, SharePoint or OneDrive
- Data should not be stored on local machines, USB flash drives or external hard drives
- Data transfers should occur only through network shares, SharePoint and OneDrive (e-mail can be used only when required)
