Getting Started

Hosting Meetings on Zoom

The best way to conduct a video conference is to self-host from your own device.  Simply send an invitation or your meeting room link to your participants.  Once they join, your meeting can start.

See Hosting a Meeting on Zoom detailed information on scheduling and hosting a meeting.

Hosting Two-way Meetings in your Classroom

To host a video conference from your classroom, you can use one of Osgoode’s collaborative spaces that is equipped with a camera and microphone.  See Classroom Technology for a list of rooms that has the necessary equipment.

Hosting One-way Meetings in your Classroom

You can invite a virtual guest speaker to your class for a one-way video conference.  This means that the guest speaker will not be able to see or hear the class, but the class will be able to see and hear the guest speaker.  This can be done with equipment already built into the classroom.

Webinars

Zoom Meetings and Microsoft Teams services makes it easy to self-host webinars.  Webinars are generally used to broadcast presentations and panels to larger audiences.  Examples are town halls, large-scale lectures and public broadcasts.

Webinars can have multiple speakers, Q&A features, and the ability to limit participant interaction via audio and video as needed.  Webinars can also be recorded.

Recorded events can be published on the Osgoode YouTube channel with approval from External Relations & Communications; contact communications@osgoode.yorku.ca for assistance with posting an event recording.
