Simon Thang, LL.B, LL.M is a sales tax lawyer and the principal of Thang Tax Law. Simon has over 15 years of experience exclusively in sales tax (GST/HST, PST). Simon is a member of the GST Leaders Forum, a group of 25 leading sales tax practitioners from across Canada. In 2025, he was selected by his peers for inclusion in the 19ᵗʰ edition of The Best Lawyers in Canada™ for expertise in Tax Law.
Simon assists a wide range of clients from established businesses to entrepreneurs, with a particular affinity for real property, public service bodies, and e-commerce. He also advises other lawyers and tax professionals. In addition to providing tax advice, Simon represents clients in disputes.
Simon teaches at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, where he developed a consumption tax course. Simon presents frequently on sales tax issues at professional events and has written for various Canadian and international publications.
