Collaborative Spaces

All collaborative spaces in the Ignat Kaneff Building are equipped with easy-to-use technology to enhance the classroom and meeting experience.  The University Services Centre (USC) supports the rooms with in-person assistance and equipment maintenance.

  • All rooms are equipped with a large display, either a projector or television
  • Laptops can be connected to the displays using a USB-C, HDMI, Wireless or VGA connection, depending on the classroom
  • Lectures can be recorded in all Lecture Halls using Panopto.  See Lecture Recordings for more information
  • All Osgoode Staff, Faculty and Adjunct Faculty can sign into the classroom computers using their Passport York account
  • Instructions for using the equipment are affixed to the credenzas in all rooms

HyFlex Collaborative Spaces

Osgoode has a number of partial and full HyFlex rooms to support hybrid teaching.  See Preparing for Hybrid Classes for information on setting up your class for a hybrid teaching scenario.

1001 | 1003 | 1005 | 2002Partial HyFlexThese rooms have built-in cameras, but do not have audience mics.  In-person students can connect to the Zoom session on their laptops to ask questions and participate in the chat, for the benefit of remote participants.

Non-HyFlex Collaborative Spaces

If you are in a room without a built-in camera, connect your laptop and the classroom PC to the Zoom session.  Your laptop can be used for the camera; the classroom PC can be used to share the screen.  Have students attending in person connect to the Zoom session on their laptops to ask questions and participate in the chat for the benefit of remote participants.

Booking Rooms

  • Regular scheduled classes are pre-booked
  • For classes not regularly scheduled, or any other events and uses, rooms must be booked at least five business days in advance through the Office of the Executive Officer using the Room Request form

Requesting Assistance

  • Instructions for using the equipment are affixed to the credenzas in all rooms.  See Using the Osgoode Classroom Technology to access instructions for using each room
  • A technician from the University Services Centre (USC) will come to the first class of each semester to provide training on using the classroom equipment
  • If you are using collaborative space and need immediate help, call USC from the phone in the room, or by calling (416) 736-5212

Booking Assistance in Advance

If you need additional assistance or equipment, this needs to be requested a minimum of five business days in advance.

Faculty – Full Time / CLA

  • You or your faculty assistant can request additional equipment or assistance using the CEO Ordering System
  • Requests must be made a minimum of five business days in advance

Faculty –Adjunct Faculty

Using the Rooms

  • Instructions for using equipment in the rooms are affixed to the credenzas in all rooms with built in equipment
  • Instructions can be reviewed on this page: Using the Osgoode Classroom Technology
  • Students – Students cannot sign into the computers built into the rooms.  If a student needs access to the built-in computer, advise rooms@osgoode.yorku.ca when booking the space that the built-in computer is needed.

  • There is no charge for the initial class training
  • Assistance for additional classes is charged at $20 per visit
