Syncing Your Data
To avoid accidental loss of any data, it is important to store folders, files and other data in the appropriate place.
- All data must be stored on a FAS Shared Volume, SharePoint or OneDrive
- Data should not be stored on local machines, USB flash drives or external hard drives
- Data transfers should occur only through network shares, SharePoint and OneDrive (e-mail can be used only when required)
Files
File should be stored on FAS shares, SharePoint and OneDrive.
- File Access Service – FAS shares contain your departmental files
- SharePoint and OneDrive – Files stored on SharePoint and OneDrive are automatically synced and backed up
Bookmarks and Favorites
To backup Firefox Bookmarks or Microsoft Edge Favorites, it is recommended to sync with an account.
Mozilla Firefox
- Create a Firefox account using your @yorku.ca e-mail address: https://www.mozilla.org/en-CA/account/
- Sign into Firefox with the account
- Open Firefox
- Click on the Profile Picture or Avatar located at the top right corner of the browser window
- Click on Sign in and follow the prompts to sign in with your Firefox account
Microsoft Edge
- Open Microsoft Edge
- Select the profile icon in the top right corner of the browser window
- If your @yorku.ca account is listed, select it. If not, click Add new account
- Sign in using your Passport York credentials (@yorku.ca)
- Select Sign in to sync data
